Amount of software available is my only reason for voting Windows.
Let me reprhase - when a new program is coming out, it will come out for PC first - not linux. Gamers get the worst part of this. No Halo on Linux, no Linux as my primary machine. :P Last edited by admin : 03-30-04 at 08:19 PM. |

Hmm... both? It depends?
Some things in linux take more knowledge to get working. I've been using it for maybe 6months and I'm still very much a newb. I guess I'll vote for Windows because at the moment that is what I know how to use better. ![]()

![]() Actually, I have quite a few reasons to be fond of linux: cost software availability software cost dependability greater latitude of customization. I do actually like some Windows versions- Win2K is excellent- but overall I feel that linux is just a better overall choice for me. If I had to pay for Microsoft licenses for all of the computers I have running now (7) I would be considerably poorer! The massive amount of software available for Linux is probably gretaer than the amount for windows....AND lower cost many times! But installation can be difficult in many cases, and many programs do not work quite the way Windows users expect. Linux is still not ready for Joe Average Computer User, in my arrogant opinion, but it does get closer all the time. If you haven't checked it out lately, you might want to. ![]() |

Yeah, I'm trying out Mandrake 10 rc1. I think I will like linux alot more once I've been running it awhile. Haven't recompiled a kernal yet, and I needa work on getting my temp monitor working.

I don't prefer it for for everyday use. And windows is the best for gaming.

It really comes down to convienience in the end, linux has some great software around if you know where to look for it, but if youre already running windows and have alot of software its just not viable...

I use windows on 3 out of 4 of my machines because of range of software / games and ease of use for noobs (family)
My linux box is just a IBM under the desk with no GUI that i mess with compile kernel and other things, So basically its my test *****. If Linux had more games around and more stable GUI i would use it for home use more
