Default How do I get a faster boot with windows XP?

Ever since I built my system, all I saw was a decrease in performance. I have no idea why this is happening, because I keep my computer clean and organized. I use Ad-aware, spybot S&D, AVG7.1, Executive Software Diskeeper, and CCleaner. One thing that I have specifically noticed was the boot and shut down times. My original boot time was roughly 15 seconds, and now it is like 25-30, and my original shut down time was like 10 seconds now it is like 20-25. Can someone please explain to me why this is happening, and how I can fix it?
Sorry for typing so much

Read my FAQ: http://www.overclock.net/faqs/77733-...mat-guide.html

Also, make sure that in msconfig (Start > RUN "msconfig") you have ONLY the process that need to run.

And check this FAQ out: http://www.overclock.net/faqs/20760-...5-seconds.html

It is called a Windows XP Half-Life, It is the point where it is starting to crap out, just keeps getting slower.....

My boot time has went from around 20sec to 25S untill everything loads.

all i can say is get a good registry cleaner and temp file deleter.

BTW: My rig never got on the internet so it is not that kind of a problem, i use my HP for all the internet stuff....

For a file deleter and registry cleaner i would have to reccomend ''Registry mechanic'' for the registry cleaner/fixer and for file deletion i would reccomend ''Ccleaner''. they are bother perfectly safe programs to use by the way. But its good to see that you got it sorted.
