i am trying to format my old spare (slave) drive, but i get a message telling me to shut down any programs using it or windows displaying its contents...HUH?
any ideas whats going on, is there something running in the backgroung somewhere?, how do i check?

Try this. Insert your Windows XP boot CD. Remove your connectors to your primary drive. Set your slave pins to master and set the old drive on your master control.
Reboot, set for install of OS and format the drive. Then after the drive is formatted reboot. Reverse your drives as they originally were and restart the system without your CD in the drive. R
