I don't think it would be fair to all the PS3 haters we have on the forums...

Wouldn't that break the rule of 2 cores per person? I thought the PS3 was like 3 or 4 cores?
Aside from that, PM Taeric and find out.

it would be fine as long as you kept to the rules no more than 4 members and each member must have no more than 3 cores running at any one time. keep in mind that although the ps3 has 8 cores the only count as 1 so you could have 4 members runing 3 ps3s each

Definately have a chat with Taeric. The cores work together as one you can't just run something off one of the chips.

Not exactly... 4 members per team. No more than 8 cores per team or any combination of that. So 1 member could have 3 cores, another 1 core and the other 2 members 2 each... Example: 3 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 8 So your statement of: <"so you could have 4 members runing 3 ps3s each"> is not exactly true.... Because 4 members x 3 cores each would = 12 cores total. As for the PS3 thing... taeric would be the best one to ask. I hope this helped, :-)

A PS3 will not produce as much as a SMP folder will. I dont think it is an unfair advantage at all for a PS3 to be counted as 1 or 2 cores. If someone owns 2 PS3s and they run them 24/7 they will produce 2000ppd combined.
Treating a PS3 as 3 cores would not be very fair to a PS3 owner. Any of you PS3 owners out there feel free to correct me if you are seeing an average PPD over 1K on your PS3 running 24/7. By the way, after the release of the new GPU client for the R600 cards, you will see one GPU putting out between 1K and 2K per GPU. There is a lot of hype around the PS3s but as far as ppd, a team of 4 SMP folders will beat a team of 4 PS3s. So I say.... Bring the PS3s!!!! Of course Taeric will have the final say.

Yeah, this would be a good idea. Also, Knitelife has a point -- SMP foling IS more efficient... So it would only be fair to count the PS3 as two cores.

It depends. We still count the number of actual cores, even with SMP.
It is a multi-core system, and it probably uses some form of SMP to fold like it does. Just my opinion... Taeric is of course tha boss
