Now would be a fantastic time to learn some about Linux if any of u guys r noobs. Since u all seem to have dual cores a vmware, ubuntu combo would be great. It is a win win situation, fold for a good cause, have fun competing and learn linux commands. Plus it is a little faster than using Windows SMP. I learned a lot by just setting up f@h on Ubuntu.

Yep if you're in vista make sure you turn User Account Control off (UAC) from Control Panel--->User Accounts. You ran the Install.bat file before starting fah.exe right?

It really depends on the size but usually between ~24-62 (1-3 days) hours.
