I'm sure this has been brought up before, but now there are just so many Quads out there.

I think the # of cores per team should be 12, or at least 10. With 10, that will obviously mean one quad per term, and at 12, 2 quads (typical folding team with the others being Dual Cores).

There has been a lot of people starting to fold lately, many using quads. Some consider joining a team, but since they have a quad, they would have to go through the trouble of setting the affinity to only 2 cores, and if they want to fold on the other 2, do the same but fold with a different name. Most people don't want to do that. I think raising the number of cores to allow for 1 or 2 quads would be extremely beneficial for the folding team competition, and make it more interesting.

What do ya say mods? If not, then why? The number of Quads is only going to increase.

Sounds like a good idea.
Except for the teams that dont have quads.
I agree about the having to use two different names part.
I had to do the same.

I don't even have a quad but I agree, hell I could run on both of my computers folding.

maybe we can have different categories for the teams right now...like a category for 12 cores, and a category for what we have now. This way, the teams that are folding but dont have enough cores to make 12 can still fold the way they fold now...

I have a dual core and couldn't agree more....... Why bother folding on a quad for a team if you just have to use two cores only? kinda dumb IMO even though you can use it for other names but I like having all my WU's go to all my name (my laptop folds for a different name for the sake of team competition)

I was going to add that but i forgot, thanks. But yea, people could even run 2 Dual Core machines if they have them.

Well yeah. Of course!

This is 2008. I personally have 3 dual core machines. 4 counting my laptop. Since I am only allowed to run 1 of them. The output for overclock.net is reduced by more than 50%. It actually discourages people from being part of a team since you end up being handcuffed.

I think 12 cores in 2008 should definitely be the norm.
