The main benefit of the 7200 is the 9.5x multiplier. I think there is an e8200/e8300 as well.

Yea, but it comes with 266MHz fsb and just loses a bit of performance when compared to the E8500 if they are clock for clock. So I was thinking if I could get it to the high 3GHz area or even right at 4GHz area it would still do nicely and it is only $130 bucks.

And even the E8200 is still around $200. so the question is, is the 3MB extra on the E8***'s worth the money. So far it doesn't seem so, but still digging.

Oh dear, I need to find a decent priced cpu, was thinking E8400 but wife is about to kill me for spending that 280 on the new mb. I just wish she would understand cause she is all like . But It's all for a goiod cause after all

Been leaning towards a E7200 but wonder how bad the 3MB L2 cache will hurt it folding. But my E6750 really isn't doing to bad of a job. Decisions decisions.
Your E6750 is doing great!!! The E7200 has a great price but I am not sure on performance

4MB. I don't know, but I think an E7200 is a step in the wrong direction.

Yea, I don't know what I'm thinking, went through the same thing going from my E4300 to E2180 and to my E6750, and I know I would be just as disappointed with th eE7200 as I was with the E2180. You do pay for what you get. Why spend the money for a good mb just to waste it's potential.

Ok, got my mindset back on a E8*** series.

If you're going to be upgrading an already beast of a chip (E6750, I <3 mine) then you might as well go in the E8*00 series as it'll give you your moneys worth.

Actually, ZZF has the E8400 for $190. I'll have to see what Neweggs price is. Same so, yea, prices have dropped a bit since I last looked a few weeks ago, of course.
