Ok, here is the thing. The team competition was designed to make it fair for everyone. You don't have to have an expensive CPU, or high end video card to fold on a team. The rules are in place to make it fun and competitive at the same time. So here goes with a description of the rules.

(1) Each member is allowed 2 cores - if you have only 3 members(the forth is down for a short time) one member can use 3 cores to make up for the forth member being down. You still must stay within the 8 core limit for the entire team though.

(2) You can fold with video cards and quads. If you fold with a card or your quad on all four cores, you will be capped out at 2k per day. The 2k will go towards your team points, and the remaining points will go toward your individual points. So, if you get 5k per day on your card, the 5k will show up as your points, but only 2k will show up on the team stats.

I gotcha. So do I need to change anything in my folding cores as so they will fold for the team specifically? How is that done? Counting the points toward the team and the member (should the cap be exceeded)?

Basically 8 cores per team, so generally 2 per member but no more than 3 for any one person.

PS3 = 1 core used
GPU2 client = 2 cores used capped at 2k per day
SMP client = 1 per CPU core utilized so if dual core then 2 core used.
Quad core all for cores = 2 cores capped at 2k per day.

You guys should all fold your extra cores like most teams do under the name Team_Modding_Mafia
Thanks for the link, and I have done as you instructed: I have read the Rules.

I think that I understand them... up until now I simply installed F@H and ran with it; sometimes I used my name, and sometimes I did it anonymously.

My cores are dynamic and they are constantly changing as I swap hardware and re-install OS's, but now I do need to be more attentive.

What you guys should do, is post in the first post what your folding on for the team. To get an idea, look at the other teams first post. They state who is on the team and what they are using to fold with. Lemans81 keeps official score for the team competition. Once you post who is folding on what, he will be able to keep score correctly.

As long as you only have 2 cores folding under your username, your fine. You won't have to do anything else. If you have more than 2 cores available for folding, you will have to fold them under a different username. Here are a few examples. I fold for Team Rough Riders, under my username Gibsonnova74(the E8600 duo in my sig). I also had a farm(now only 2 cards) folding under chrisbgibson. As others have stated, you can also fold your extra cores under your team name. The guys on Team The Replacements just broke 1 million points with their extra cores.(folding under Team_The_Replacements)

Ah ok! So to clarify, I (once I get my GPU) can set GPU2 to fold for repo_man and then I would change the CPU client to fold under a new name in the program itself (not 'repo_man'), right?

Exactly. I fold with 2 of my cores under "rx7racer" on my Quad using affinity changer and on the other 2 cores I fold for "Just_Be_Cause".

actually repo, for the most ppd, you should probably put up a VMware client with a 64bit linux install and see how much ppd you can squeeze out of your dual core... if you get over 2kppd, then stick to it instead of your card, and the put your card under another name. such as TEAM_MODDING_MAFIA... yeah basically to get in the top ranking teams per month, you need some crazy clocked dual cores on linux running SMP with great RAM timings and BUS speeds 24/7 4.0+ Ghz ought to do it...

and as for syrillian, I'd say to do the same, and set up two dual core VMware machines, and get them folding, one for the team name and one under your name.

So, if I were to use only the PS3 and the G80 for the Team, then I can leave things the way things are?

When I first started getting into F@H I tried the VMWare thing. It always says uncompatible with 32bit. I'm on 32bit OS (which I hear doesn't matter) and specs say the e2160 is 64bit capable, so I have no clue with it. I eventually gave up and installed the regular (and slow) cpu client. I couldn't even get the SMP to work.
