repo_man I suggest you go try to get the MPICH SMP to work... use the downloaded installer, run it then navigate to the install directory, and run the MPI.exe set it up with the user account and password... if you don't use account passwords, then you're going to need to set one up... but you can set up windows to automatically log into your account anyways. the basiac folding client ppd, sucks, compared to SMP.... guide 4 install

as for syr, the G80 alone allots for 2 cores... so you could only run the G80. or your PS3 and 1 core from your Quad... but I truly suggest splitting your Quad into to virtual dual core machines 1 for the team and 1 for yourself.

Thanks for the advice H3llscr3am.

It is clear to me that Folding is far more complicated than I thought since I started a couple of years ago.

As stated before I simply set up what I could and let it run, and I spent very little time tuning a tweaking

I will read the guides, and I am hopeful that I will comprehend them; but if you don't mind I will most likely have more questions.

Over the next 2-3 weeks I will be doing a fair amount of hardware swapping and re-installing of OS's. This will provide an excellent time to set things up so that I am getting the most out of the Folders.

well the best OSes for folding are Linux 64 bit distros, not so bloated better core usage... error10 even has GPU folding working in linux through Wine... but I'm always trying to help... would hate to see you guys at the bottom of the pole, because you didn't understand the rules, and how to use them to your advantage.

Syr, check out this guide to installing VMware for Linux SMP folding using SUSE... it was my first setup back when I was on team smirnoff FTW we came in second. but that was back when all my gear was top of the line... lol $700 8800GTX now they're pennies on the dollar... but that guide will set you on the right path I believe.

Getting a rep from an OCN legend like you makes me giddy Love your case mods, and love for the eastern influence

Fold on, team! Yesterday I was hitting 5500 PPD. Today it has dropped to around 3k. I hope it's just one of those WU's that drop the PPDs and not an issue with my machine.

I will be back tonight for some tweaking/tuning.

When I get my new ram in I'll try that I guess. I want to see if I can get the OC up higher with this faster ram. I'm sure I'll have a help thread when I try whatever SMP this is you've suggested, lmao!

Thanks for all the help so far man. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the folders here at OCN are a special breed. Without a doubt, some of the nicest members we have!

I don't get it. When I first fired up the rig and began folding with it, it was cranking over 5000 PPD. Now I'm only turning half of that.
Any of my teammates seeing the same performance hit or is it just me?

Yea some of the newer work units for gpu2 are kinda harsh, been more and more complaining about them. It dropped my ppd with my 8800GS also, went down to around 2500 ppd last I had it up.

Right now I'm working on one of the 480 point WUs (5013) = 2700PPD

My computer sounds almost as if something is wrong with it. I guess as I start accumulating money again, Copper Top will be getting rebuilt again
