I did not like the cap at first (I even had a 8800GTS folding 6000ppd which is nothing compared to the new 280 but this was before they came out) but once I got into cpu folding I loved it you really should give it a try

Geez. Take a look through the history of this folding competition and see the dedication and effort that has gone into it from past and present folders. The clients are the most stable now than they have ever been, the points are higher, and the cpus are quicker.

Sure there are some dominant teams in the competition right now, but they deserve every bit of credit for their time and effort. The cpu folding is a lot less forgiving than gpu.

I can still compete today because I fold gpu. I don't have a whole lot of time and money to tweak nor do I want to. Most of the time I cannot run 24/7 either. I can still turn in the cut off 2000ppd. If I folded the same schedule with a cpu, I'd be lucky to get anywhere near 2000ppd.

The fact is that most, if not all, of the top cpu folders in the competition fold 24/7 for the whole month and that requires a lot of effort. Your total folding points are still counting towards your overall OCN rank and the folding units are all still being given to Stanford. The cause is what matters most here. If you don't like the competition, then powerfold and help out that way.

These rules are in place for a reason. The cap is used so that members with quads and GPU's can participate in the team competition. The team competition is designed for CPU folding, period. There was an exception made for the quads and GPU's, they can fold on the team competition, but they have to be capped. This is the rule. If you don't like the rule, don't compete in the team competition and just fold on your own. The cap rule is in place to be fair for all of the dual cores, which once again, is what this team competition was made for. If there are enough members interested in a team competition for all out folding on quads and GPU's, I will make a seperate competition for them.

We would need atleast 20 members who want to do this.(that would be atleast 5 teams) So, get enough members together and we can do something like this. I will bet that this competition won't be nearly as fun as our current one. Hopefully this will end this little problem with the GPU folders who don't like the rules.
