I don't know about Quad performance, but as far as my C2D, Linux SMP and WinSMP are about the same. WinSMP might be better for me now actually. Linux use to be better. I would usually get 1760pt WUs in Linux, and in WinSMP the WUs were much less and would take longer. Now, for a long time, i have steadily been getting 1760pt WUs in WinSMP daily (if i dont stop it for any reason). I tried Linux again and wasn't getting the 1760pt WUs and it seemed to take the same time or even longer. So i went back to WinSMP since it is much easier, and on Windows. My guess is they tweaked the WUs and the points on WinSMP. Time frames are the same, if not better in WinSMP. Used to be the other way around, but not anymore. That is my experience with native Linux and WinSMP in Vista on my C2D.

Also, correct me if i'm wrong, but Intels fold much better in WinSMP than AMDs. Or at least that is how it used to be.


Man, if i didnt lose those 2 or 3 WUs, Mixers would have been 4th!

Well, I seemed to have screwed up my boot loader for Vista as I tried to dual boot Ubuntu 64bit again. Now I am only on Ubuntu after a fresh format and am natively folding SMP on it. For me, it seems to be about 23% faster than the WinSMP was for me. I guess this is a blessing in disguise because I am learning a lot about Linux. As long as I can get Team Fortress 2 to work correctly on it, I'm pretty much set and don't even have Vista on anymore. I'll update with my point comparison as well. They should be worth the same amount of points, right? (WinSMP compared to LinuxSMP)

yeah and i was folding at stock until today. I got my x3210 and it's running at 3.6 right now i'm pretty sure i can push it further but i've got a huge vdroop of 0.1v +/- 0.02v so i 'm folding at 3.6ghz right now I should get little bit more in the way of points
