Well, I'm not getting the C2D at work. We got a new guy starting in our department so instead of me getting an upgrade, we had to buy a new rig for him. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Bah, don't worry about it. As mentionned, you guys are folding without me until the 21st... but I'll be back and in full strength once and for all.

I also bought myself 2 Silverstone Fans (the sweet 110CFM ones with the control knob)... they didn't have them in black, but really I'm just trying to keep the noise down in my case (Sounds like a small tornado)....

Cost me 50 bucks with shipping and tax... I hope they're worth it.

Jimmy

I'll switch to 64-bit client to try to pick up some slack.

Alright got a smp client running on a Ubuntu 64 bit distro. I'll leave it on till the end of the month, after that I'll only fold Smp when I'm at work or asleep.

Hey Jusken, that's great. Post your times, just to get a feel for what your opty is made of!

On a 3020 (typical project these days) it's easy to do 1 per night. That's 587 points guaranteed!

I suggest you run one or the other, otherwise we can get disqualified for using too many cores. Stanford doesn't recongnise MACHINES, but CLIENTS instead.

Jimmy

P.S. I'll be back on SMP by the 22nd at the latest.

Holy shhhh....Just got the BT + FM121 installed. My load temp instantly dropped from 50-52C down to 38C. Haven't pushed the OC any further yet, because I want to see if the temp will drop more once the AS5 settles in. Oh ya...I popped the top on the Opty to get it a little more cooler. I'll keep you guys posted on my OC results.

It takes me 13 hours and 15 min to do a 5,000,000 step WU (3025). I'll be folding 24/7 till next year on the SMP client, not just for our team but becuase I'm in the christmas spirit.

Hello all,

Just thought I'd give you a little update. I've just finished cleaning up wiring and installing the 2 FM121 fans I just bought. Unfortunately, it seems that the fan making the most noise in my case is the CPU fan: I'm going to see what I can do about it.

I noticed they put up some REALLY nice WUs for SMP folding: I'm going to get on those soon.

Finally, I just couldn't get Virutalization to work, no matter what I did. So there you have it, a briefing on my current status.

Just so you know, I'll probably be back up and running on SMP around the 24th... I'm going to give virtualization another try, and that will be the end of it.

Jimmy.
