Default Cleaning case and fans of Dirt and Scum: My Results!

Weeelllll!!!!

Finally after about 3 hours of my head in my pc i've got this finally done, my before pic:

http://blair.impulseanime.net/images...ild/before.jpg

and after:

http://blair.impulseanime.net/images...d/complete.jpg

but there is definately something you should know, it tooks 3 hours for a reason, i pulled every piece of my computer apart, i pulled it to shreds, and then i made it look nice for this picture:

http://blair.impulseanime.net/images...n%20pieces.jpg

anyway, if you go to

http://blair.impulseanime.net/images/computer/rebuild/

you can look at the other pictures i took,

i also put my Vante IceBerQ 4 Pro back onto my Ti4800SE, this time removing the blue plastic covering it in an attempt to increase airflow, i also hand cleaned every fan in my PC except the PSU fan as it's kinda hard to reach, and i tidied up the grills covering my fans by simply removing the grills alltogether as you can see here:

http://blair.impulseanime.net/images...m%20-%2003.jpg

doing that really helped the airflow, it nows feels about 60% higher than before which is really good.

Previously i had about 3 times too much artic Silver 5, so i redid that applying the "right" amount (about half a short-grain of uncooked rice) onto my CPU.

i also cleaned my HS which was quiet clogged with scum, it's now nice and free, you can see the difference if you look at the before and after shots.

Along with following ATVkids's guide to cleaning up my Cables, Archer's ATA cable rounding, and the PSU i had already done previously with little zip-ties, now what was this all really for, well it was clearly for increased cooling, and a tidier looking case, did i achieve this YES! most certainly, previously my temps with the case fully off running idle were:

CPU Fan @ 4000RPM
CPU: 59C
MOBO: 40C
HDD: 36C

Now, with the case on they are at idle:

CPU Fan @ 4000RPM
CPU: 54C
MOBO: 32C
HDD: 34C

as you can see there is a fairly decent drop in temp, and don't forget that's with the case on, not off, when i put my case on before my CPU would be 64C idle, so i've dropped a whole 10C there

thanks to the following guides for getting me here

yeah, but you say your comp IDLE in the 50C's ?? that isnt good man

mine is like 52 C at maximum load and i have a prescott!!

but nice job, i use the dust cloth that came with my case and a big grey ball thing that you pump with your hand to blast dust off, works great

yeah i know it's bad but AMD says that under 60 is ok, and as i'm 58C load it's ok, the amximum it shoudl be is 70C (or that's what i've heard) so i'm under those max temps, i don't know how to explain my high temps other than, BAD CASE, it's not aluminium, so heat disapation is bad, and the intake vents on the fornt are pitiful, that's why i'm going to upgrade to an Antec Super Lanboy in the near future for some pics grab this archive in my server:

http://blair.impulseanime.net/Antec%...r%20Lanboy.rar

you will need winrar, but i think most people who would be here would use it anyway

you also said your prescott was full load at 52, isn't that a little high? i've got a friend who has a P4 Prescott 3.0GHz and his sits on a nice 40 under load... and he's using the stock intel cooler, and has 2 case fans (side & rear)

40 C under load?? i doubt that, using the stock cooler with silver compound and case fans mine was maxed at like 62 C

i now have a 120mm intake / 120mm exhaust , a zalman 7700Cu heatsink , AS5 and cable management/good case ect and my load under the highest cpu prime95 torture is 55C so i doubt that your friends is at 40C
plus mine is at 3.4ghz but it was at 3.0 until i got the new case
