Question Thermal Tape??

Anyone know of a good thermal tape to use? I need some for attaching little headsinks on-to the RAM on my GPU.

Thanks,
SomeDooD.

don't know about tape but I believe Arctic Silver has some thermal adhesive for the same sort of application

But I warn you removal of the sinks after application is likely to destroy the chip they are attached to as it is absolutely permanent (at least the package says)

I tried Arctic Silver 5, not much adhesion. They kept falling off. The heatsinks came with thermal tape but after a while it got dirty and eventually came off. I'm trying to find some of the same.

It's thermal paste + permanent adhesive.

go to chromerics.com you can get free samples there up to two. I chose the thermattatch t412 tape and you can select i think its 2x10" thats enough for 40 ramsinks. then you can ask for two samples of that stuff and get 2 2x10" pieces.
This is great stuff and state fo the art. I used a paper cutter to make perfect .5x.5" squares for gpu ramsinks. I also tried using my laser cutting machine to cut the squares but it didnt work because there is a think layer of metal screen in teh middle for electro magnetic shielding and my laser wont cut through stainless steel or whatever it was.

Yeah, I would rather NOT use that. I would rather use tape.

Yes the ones I have i am happy with, they have all kinds they seem to be the masters of thermal tape and EM shielding. The kind I have is a little thicker than some that are paper thin because of the emi shield sandwiched in, you might want to ask them or call and find out what there thin thermal tape with no shielding is if there is any and try a sample of both you can choose 2 samples and if they are both thermal then you ask in the note for the second on and dont select a emi product.
