Hello!
After some research I found out that I wanted to lap my 920D0. But before I was going to start on the d0 I wanted to do some training on some old chips. So my friend gave me a Celeron 4 CPU and a E4700 which is a pretty nice cpu. I'm done with lapping the Celeron 4. I used; 200-300-400-800-1200 and a video from youtube and I spoke with some overclockers that have been lapping their cpu's before. I'm going to start lapping the E4700 tonight, but is there any way to check if the cpu is 100%flat? mine seems flat... I don't lay any pressure on the cpu, I just lest in slide over the paper... 15 turns, then I rotate it 90 degres... Lapping can't be that plain hard, cause if you don't lay any pressure on the cpu. the cpu should come out pretty falt. ![]() workbech ![]() ![]() after a while on the 200 and 300 grit.. The cpu had high edges than middle.. ![]() Copper! ![]() ![]() Few rounds with the 1200 grit..

Use a razorblade and put it on top of the CPU and see if light comes through

Are razorblades 100% flat?

i would say 99.999999999999999999999999% flat, looks like you did a fine job!

It looks flat but yes find a brand new razorblade or something that you know is perfectly flat. Lay it across the cpu at all different angles and hold up to a light and see if light comes through. If it does keep lapping if not your set.

Not to bad but I tend to go about 20 then rotate and 3 sets. So 60 times per grit on each turn and rotating after 20 count.

Just make sure your keeping a even rotation otherwise it will never be flat. If your not keeping an even rotation it could become slanted and thats bad.
