Default What can I do with 12v CPU fans to make them useful?

Hi, I've got 3 fans I pulled off of stock AMD heatsinks. They're 12v 0.45A fans. Four pin.

I was wondering if I could somehow convert these to USB? I read a guide on how to do it with 5v fans, but I wasn't sure if that'd damage anything.

Any thoughts or other suggestions on what to do with these?

If you run them at 5V off a USB it shouldn't hurt them.

So if I turn them to USB, they'll just take 5v and nothing more since they're DC? Won't they slow down?

If so, great. It's more the USB port/motherboard I'm worried about.

They will slow down, They might not even have enough power to start.

Most fans need atleast 7v to spin enough to make it worth while.
As noted some fans might not even budge at 5v

Be careful not to exceed the 500mA current limit per USB port though...
