Hi, I've got 3 fans I pulled off of stock AMD heatsinks. They're 12v 0.45A fans. Four pin.
__________________I was wondering if I could somehow convert these to USB? I read a guide on how to do it with 5v fans, but I wasn't sure if that'd damage anything. Any thoughts or other suggestions on what to do with these?

If you run them at 5V off a USB it shouldn't hurt them.

So if I turn them to USB, they'll just take 5v and nothing more since they're DC? Won't they slow down?

They will slow down, They might not even have enough power to start.

Most fans need atleast 7v to spin enough to make it worth while.

Be careful not to exceed the 500mA current limit per USB port though...

i took the old fan from a very very old amd athlon 3.2 single core, strapped it to my chipset heatsink as mine tends to run kinda hot.
