So here's what i'm wondering. We've had the problem with heat for a long long time in computer systems. All we've ever done was throw some heatsinks in there or maybe watercooling or something like that to transfer the heat to another part of the system and blow it away. What i'm wondering is this. Would it be possible in some way to directly convert the electrical energy that's running through the processor to some other form of energy instead of heat?

not on a consumer level.
IE if it was even possible, it would be incredibly expensive.

There isn't really any other form of energy to convert it to afaik.

my computer heats my room so we have to use less natural gas in my house, this is saving energy.. I guess.. prolly not

Well if you let your cpu get to 100c to boil water you could make some energy, but i would advise against this... lol

There's always the Stirling Engine. I remember a heatsink was made that used one to power a fan.

Find another liquid that boils at 45C, also if its anything like water, it would pull a lot of heat out as it is converted.

Using the heat that components generate to power those components.
Greatest idea. Ever.
