I read somewhere that someone suggested taking the HSF back off to check the spread, after doing the dot/rice grain method.

wth? Maybe i'm over analyzing this, but wouldnt removing the hsf then putting it back on...basicly guarantee bubbles in your TIM?

Thanks everyone, I think it'll be either OCZ freeze or MX-3, going to see if there's any reviews on those. Once again, thanks for the answers.

Thought so, thanks.

And the 2 tims you picked are so close in specs/price, that I'd go with whichever i can get for less, or whichever is on sale :P

I like Tuniq TX-2, same as MX-2 only cheaper. Its way better than AS5 on multiple levels, easy to put on, easy to remove and no cure time.

Tuniq TX-3 is even better though.

Here is an amazing study.

80-way Thermal Interface Material Performance Test

I would go with Arctic 5, or their top rated performer, "Shin-Etsu MicroSi G751," of which I've never heard. Arctic 5 is cheap and easy to get and highly rated. The site also has links to Arctic's recommenced application process.

EDIT: "Shin-Etsu MicroSi G751 - Sold at NewEgg under the Masscool brand"

Argh I hate it when I have to choose between two >_<.
Hm, well the OCZ Freeze is cheaper than the MX-3, but MX-3 is non-electrically conductive, wich I like, just to be safe. Is OCZ Freeze electrically conductive?

Meh, the shop in Denmark where I usually buy my coolers and thermal paste from doesnt seem to have got Tuniq TX-3.
They got:Arctic Cooling MX-2, Arctic Cooling MX-3, Arctic Silver 5, Arctic Silver Céramique, Coollaboratory Liquid Pro, Innovation Cooling Diamond 7 Carat, OCZ Freeze, Thermalright Chill Factor, Xigmatek PTI-G360 and Zalman ZM-STG1

GC-Extreme and MX-3 will perform the best. I recommend the GC-Extreme because it slightly less "messy". If you can't get it then definitely MX-3.
