One possible benefit would be to prevent condensation if you were to use phase cooling. It seems to me that just dunking the board in oil would be a lot faster/easier than prepping and insulating a board for extreme cooling.

you can actually do the submerged thing, but if its possible it would probably be easier to just make a w/c loop and fill it with oil, if you do go the submerged route post pics man, and don't forget to add a radiator to the oil setup

You tube has 5 systems vid's, XS had quite a few threads but they have all gone off the server now, try the search box at the top for a few on here......and there's plenty more round about... true it is not blindingly popular but it certainly isn't rare.

After about 20 minutes, the oil will reach the same heat as the processor and it will shut down. Circulating the oil requires an oil pump and an oil rad. That doesn't make up for how messy it is. You're best off just going with a nice custom water loop. It looks better, has better cooling, and is just all around a better idea.

This actually has 2 benefits:
More quiet than a W/C setup. Cheaper than a W/C setup. An oil cooled system can only run for about a few hours before the temps get too high, that's without a rad. You can buy a Rad and add 2 fans on it. The oil only needs very little cooling so buy some silent fans with low RPM or buy a fan controller. Also having a large heatsink on the CPU and everything else you want to OC will help cooling. Remember you do not need any fans in a oil system(except rad). It is a lot easier if you position the MOBO so that the expansion slots and IO shield plates ETC are coming out the top of the Oil.

What he has failed to tell you is that he plans to do it for science fair.
