Default Converting desktop to laptop

In this conversion, to supply power I will use a taken apart and reengineered 500W PSU. I will then build and hook up an 500W inverter (12V DC to 120V AC) - the link below is the schematic for a 12V DC to 220V AC...what would i need to change so it outputs 120V AC? http://www.electronics-lab.com/proje...033/index.html

then i will have two 12-cell batteries connected to the 12V DC of the inverter, and an AC adapter for charging. (charging will take a long time lol)

my sig rig is what is being converted -- I will use a low profile WC solution and special PCI-E extensions that will allow the 7600 to fit. The base of the laptop will be as big as the motherboard plus 2" on each side.

Yes this is crazy; and yes I am serious. So don't flame me.

I am planning on using my 20" LCD as the monitor. (which is why I have the second 12-cell battery). Maybe i need 3, lol. that would not fit in my designs though.

I will likely have two small volume hi flow WC loops. I might have to build some stuff myself (which could be a problem)...trying to see what i can do here.
If i can air cool it then I am confident in everything else working.

I will replace TV tuner and WiFi with USB equivalents but for sound card what is a small profile nice sound card i can use?

The base will be 3" thick which is fine with me. This could be one mother of a laptop.

actually most PSU's accept 220V so I can just use the schematic right?

It should work but think about it as a portable desktop, not a laptop. Forget about getting more than 30min of battery life, especially with a 20 in screen.

maybe you didnt read, i have TWO 12-cell batteries

the dual SLI Q6600 laptop gets 1.5 hours on ONE......17" screen

anyway instead of building the inverter should i get this? how big do you think it is?
http://www.staples.com/office/suppli...&ci_sku=647576

wait a minute...my system runs just fine on 300W! can I just use this?http://www.buy.com/retail/product.as...04&dcaid=17902
and then use a 300W seasonic (which, without my big OC, runs fine (i got the 350W for OCing))

Ok...I check the power draw of a 17vs 20in screen. 17in is 34W and 20 in 40W. So you will probably get 3 hours then...

Hehe pretty insane, if you ever complete it I wanna see pictures.

I would imagine this would not be that small, the 20" screen alone is going to be huge.

As for sound cards, you can't go wrong with Creative Labs. You can get low profile Sound Blaster Live on Ebay for about 15$.
