So as a few of you may recall, i made this thread a while back, enquiring aboot painting the plastic surrounds on my monitors. It led me to this thread, which helped me a plenty!
Well, today i finally got my arse into gear, and started on one. And this thread is i guess, a work log to show my progress.. My first one too. I figured i'd start on the older smaller one first, just in case i fux it all up (which i probably might). I'm not too fussed about the overall quality, and thankfully so, as being my first endevour into painting plastic, it will probably look a poor job. But, experience, thats what im after. So, the first thing i did was undid the screws, and popped off the front surround: ![]() Frameless, all that wasted space there, taken up by two poxy little speakers. ![]() I mean, is there any point?! Hmph! To the garage! ![]() My feet and the gear. Sorted. ![]() A bit of sanding, lovely and smooth. Dust everywhere. And this is where i am at the moment. ![]() All primed up with one coat. Currently waiting for it to dry as i write this. Once done, i'll give it a quick sand and another coat, and probably be back again. As i say, this is more of a learning experience than a proper job. I've got another monitor that needs doing soon too, so hopefully that one will turn out better. And remember kids, safety first; ![]() (wanker)

hope thats your "dont wanna show face on web" mask and not your painting mask.
if you dont have one, get a paint/pesticide canister respirator for about 20-30 bucks at a hardware store, youll save yourself from brain and lung damage cheers

It's my "stop dust" mask, how effective it is i do not know. It's a well ventilated place anyways so i'm not too bothered. Not like i do this every day is it?
Anyways, second coat of primer's on. Sound.

Not bad. Fix up the white lines, add a few coats of clear coat, and you should be good.

sand before the clear (lightly with hi grit) or the clear may peel if that black has any gloss in it
