those cd-players use 160watts ?!?!?!

If i ever get around to it i will pull out my alpine CDA-9807 from my car as well as my 4ch amp; have put the cd player in my 1 spare 5.25" bay and the amp on top on the case with 2 old stock speakers hooked up to it and those speakers sitting on the desk i have, but i wll need a secondary psu to do the job.

I think it's lame, but that's just me I dont know why you'd want a car CD player when you've got a CDRom and MP3 at the click of a button. Truely useless mod (If you'd call it a mod, it's really just like calling installing a CDRom a mod, but with more wires) imho... But whatever makes you tick

i dont think it,s lame stainless but i would like to see how there goin to power it .maybe an external plug in the wall power supply somehow

Buh, they'll never power it, my car amp yanks 50 - 60amps when turned up. It's 500RMS though... but still... To give you an idea that's what it's gonna take. To run any "real" sound system, you'd need a costly transformer I think. A PSU just wont power an amp... A headunit - maybe, I doubt it...

you may get away with just a head unit on anexternal power supply but no way could you power watt hungry amps like alpine,genesis,or kicker, the power amps can drain a car battery in minutes so imagine the amps they would need fom a power supply....come n guys prove me wrong

Mmm, I had to put a better alternator in mine -_-... If my system gets any bigger I'll have to run a second battery... Which is... Arg, bad lol. Car audio is fun, but I hate powering it all
