Default Steps

I have a server board with dual xeon 2.8 ghz cpu's. But alas there are no pci slots. I saw this thread and was curious, but it seems no one has posted recently. I would like the steps and what I would need to install pci slots into my mobo.

someone posted 2 days ago - that not recent enough for u?

j/k

so u want to add PCI slots to ur mobo eh?
keep in mind - I have not tested to see if data transferral is 'operational', tho power is fully functional..
If u want to add & make use of data transferring across the PCI bus, i'd say wait a lil - next week I order my ram, after which I will test..

let me know what u need: *just* power or data as well.. I'll be happy to do a write up then

Why didn't you just plug the I-RAM into the PCI-X slot?

A much simpler mod will let you use a full 16X card in that 8x PCI-E slot.

Still, I'm very impressed with the soldering skill.

EDIT: Ah, I overlooked the raid card, my mistake.

Still, I think you should add the second PCI-E 8x slot and use a real video card in one of them.

First thing I saw on that mobo was the excessive amount of RAM slots.

Awesome hard hack though, hope it works for you

Hey I am getting a new toy, I am impatient, I am allowed that since it is such a large upgrade from my current setup. 1.5 ghz and 1.5 gigs ram. I have more ram then I have processoring power, how pathetic is that. Anyways I hope it works out, cause I have 5 empty slots on the board that is coming, and hopefully I can fill those in and use them for audeo card and a video card. Ethernet would be worthless since it has dual gigabit ethernet slots installed directly on the board like some weird highspeed usb slots. And yes I would like all the steps and data needed for this sort of mod, cause I know someone that can solder, so looks right now it is looking very promising.
