Arrow Making spinner for Disco Ball

Guys i need enormous assistance.
I wish to make my disco ball (inside my case) rotate. I have the ball, thou i have to balance it before it gets hooked on spinner, but that is the least problem i worry about.
Y?
Well i don't no clue what to do whit electronics... well I know to mount things, but i don't know which and why. i am aware that the chosen EM has to get some resistors so it can be hooked on 12V rail to operate on lower RPM. Well... switch is also need to be mounted and even maybe some gadget that will adjust RPM. And yes connecting anode or cathode for + or - rail just changes the direction of spinning.. no difference.

...that but thats pretty much it...

Can anyone help me? i need shemes, descriptions, advices... HELP!!!

I salvaged 2 small el.motors from old CD drive. And that is where from i start.

[A] used to move the lance mechanism.

[B] used to move disc frame. i think it is much more suitable. what i managed to confirm... even on something less than 1.5V (used AAA battery tested) it is spinning the ball little to fast.

SImply put a resistor inline to drop the voltage and see if it works.

Do you have a multimeter? If you can tell us how many amps the motor draws at a given voltage, we can tell you exactly what value resistor you need to achieve the voltage (and thus speed) you want. If you say 1.5v was too much, I'd say 1.0v is a safe next stopping point - but you'll be playing trial-and-error unless you can find out that current draw.

(Note that trial and error is not a bad thing - resistors are not terribly expensive - but it could save some trouble).
