If I only had a more steady hand, the pictures and the soldering jobs would've came out much better.

Good guide! The power pin locations were exactly what I needed to throw this into my case mod. +

Yes - the pins at first were hard to find because I didnt know where to begin. There are actually other SATA drives that are easier to modify but mine didn't have soldering points like my first mod.

Old XBox or 360?

You can use Daejavoo's Guide for IDE Optical Drives for the old XBox's.

You could use this guide for a 360 optical drive, as they are SATA.

You said that SATA and Molex connectors are completely different and then you went ahead and used the 12v power source. That's exactly the same my friend

SATA power also comes with a 3.3v line that could be very useful for a mod like this

Good job though, and good of you to give credit where it's due.

No - they look completely different and have completely different pin/soldering layouts. They have the same power lines/sources - but they are completely different.

The 12v power source in this mod from the SATA connector. This connector does not exist on an IDE drive. Thats why either DAJAVOO's mod or the other mod listed on OCN will not work with a SATA.

My point was that it's still carrying two grounds, a 12v and a 5v. The only added line is a 3.3v one, which could be used to run LEDs without resistors.
