Default Honey, I Shrank My Graphics Card
So this morning i looked at my graphics card and i noticed it looked a bit different:



My poor 8800GT had been shrunk to the size of a flash drive!





this is a little mod i thought up while cruising Instructables last night. They have a gazillion different mods for USB thumb drives, but nothing really caught my eye. I wanted to make something original, so i decided to crack open one of my 2 GB drives from Micro Center.

Finding it was pretty slim, i then wondered what kind of case i could make that had never been seen before. Inspiration hit when i considered my graphics card (still in its box, sadly. :P ). I decided to make a miniature replica of it.

the black plastic is the battery door from a wireless mouse, lapped (since i had no sandpaper and lack a dremel, i was forced to improvise with baking soda toothpaste and a hacked-up electric toothbrush. it worked. ) and trimmed to fit. The "fan" is the top of a bic pen cap, cut out to fit.

I covered the back with electrical tape to prevent any unintentional shorts:



It's quite thin:



well, i hope you've enjoyed seeing it as much as i enjoyed making it! I may try a dual-slot cooler model next, if i can find a suitable piece of plastic.
