Did you end up fixing it?

Had one of these awhile back. Worked fine for a year.

One day however, I was playing Final Fantasy 11, was a level 75 thief, camping Sozu Rogberry for the thiefs knife, If you don't know what this is, imagine sitting a game character in a room about the size of your average bathroom with 20 other people, hoping to be the first person to poke a monster that randomly appears once every 15 minutes to 24 hours.

Well, he pops, I get him, take him to 5%, then my PSU decides to pop also. Loud cracking noise, screen goes black, smell burned plastic.

Look under my desk, the PSU is shooting flames out the back. I jump down, rip the cables out of my pc(had to replace the vga cable as it was screwed in) Take the screws out of my psu, take the side panel off, cut the wires off with some pliers I had nearby, threw the PSU across the room. After this point I THEN decided to hit the on fire PSU with the extingisher.

Needless to say, a few 2nd degree burns, a dead psu, a saved computer, and some lucky asshat who now has a knife that took me another 6 months of trying every day to get...

Well 5 years ago when i built my sig rig I had powered it down, or so i thought, and was about to plug in the molex power plug into my HD and i saw a little spark jump from the molex plug to the HD pins. Turns out the computer wasn't turned off like i thought, and it also turns out i sent 12v through the 5v pin, and 5v through the ground pin. Needless to say the HD was dead, the PSU was dead, and i damaged the mobo (the one I still in my sig rig.). It turned out that tmy case has a 5 second force shutdown, our old dell had had a 3 second and I knew that the PSU fans stayed on to help vent so i didnt pay that any attention, thus destruction ensued.

I didnt fry anything in my new rig sitting next to me open, but UPS did drop 2 boxes with $2000 of electronics in them as they opened the truck doors ><

I had a pretty interesting one, myself.

Ignorantly, I left my hand-me-down ex-gaming computer on, (Not high powered but nice.) during a thunderstorm. Well, I had it behind a surge protector, right? So I thought I was good. What do ya know, I fried both the hard drives, the BIOS chip was no good, and even the IDE connectors were (understandably) fried.

I talked to someone about that and that was rare... Or maybe impossible... But it happened.

Luckily, a friend supplied me with a Toshiba Portege laptop... PII @ 486MHz with 192 MB of RAM... seriously... Who needs THAT kind of power?

Lets see i think it was maybe 2-3 years ago. This was on an old 939 board. My old PSU had died didn't want to hot start or anything. It had that *smell* you know when something has been fried. At the time i had a broken thumb and wrist on my left arm and was trying to remove the PSU one handed. Well when i went to remove the 24 pin well to my suprise i yanked it out and acidently cracked the pcb. Got the 939 asus board RMA'd and got a new one. Well i was putting everything back into the case(psu, motherboard, fans, cpucooler,ETC) and i was screwing down the graphics card and the screw fell into the bottom mounted PSU. Well i walked away and totally forgot about it. I came back got everything hooked up plugged it in and got some PRETTY colors comming from the psu. Wasn't really happy about that.

this didnt really fry my computer but: I had a dell slim case and i recently update to a slim 8600gt, that thing was like a hot oven. The whole case was closed, and when i opened it and smelled the PSU, i was like *** is that smoky smell? I later found out it was my Nvidia card that had the smell from overheating. Later on i returned that POS, and got an Ati 4650 and a new case and PSU. still have my computer. D: but i still have a dell

I pissed on my Sony Viao laptop once when I was drunk. It never worked again.

I used to bartend and come home really late and really wasted. Don't know how it happened, but I suspect I got out of bed to go to the restroom and mistook my closed laptop display for a toilet lid.

Didn't discover my error until the next day... took me a while to figure out what soaked my whole desktop... then
