So yeh.. just wondering if anyone knew what the LED specs are for the power and activity light on the front panel of the CM590?

Not sure, but it is way too bright. I have mine covered up...

If they are blue then they are probably around 3.2-3.5 volts at or under 20mA...
__________________Red's have a lower voltage from like 1.9 to like 2.2 volts at 20mA..

The LEDs are blue.
The reason I want to know is so I can get a similar LED (in white/orange) to replace the stock one. I've researched a bit and it seems White LEDs use more voltage than Blue LEDs, so I'll get high intesity Whites and the natural undervoltage will dim them.. Any suggestions?

Most white LEDs are just blue LEDs with a phosphor coating.. So basically you can just put in some white ones and not have to worry about changing currents and what not...
__________________Btw.. The only white LEDs that I know of that do not use a blue LED with a phosphor are ZnSe based LEDs.. Not many online store sell them and they aren't all that great... But you don't have to worry about phosphor degradation..

Oh ok.. cool! I'll probably get some from my local electronics store.
What about Orange LEDs? Do I have to add extra resistors if I used Orange LEDs?

Yeah, for orange you will need some resistors... The voltage is around the same as the red LEDs at around 2V... If you haven't bought the LEDs yet I strongly recommend buying some that have a datasheet available for them them.. It will help you figure out almost exactly what voltage it needs and what current its rated for.. Then you can use this easy tool to figure out what resistor you need to use.. http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz
