Hi all,
Just want to find out, is it possible to paint a HDD and has anyone done it.
Can it be done will Engine spray paint as it can handle Temp of over 150C and does not chip that easily.

Make sure you do not get paint in any of the breathe holes. They are little holes that say "DO NOT BLOCK".

This. Make sure you mask off the holes and screw threads.
Oh, and your warranty will be voided of course

If you paln to just coat the polished sides. I would recommend going to a small local sign shop and buy some scrap vinyl to whatever color you like.
Peel it off if you have to send it back for warranty work.

And im guessing the PCB board on the bottom?

Doesn't matter, not to bothered.

Prob Black or maybe Metallic Blue or the same as my PSU which is prob most likely at this point(see my Mod, Slim Case Project, Drives for that).

Sorry but im not a fan of stickers.

Nope, the holes would be on the top of the drive normally. And are normally surrounded by a 'do not cover' message.

When i finally do it (prob within the next month) ill catalog it and make a giude on how to paint your hdd.

If you are going to use black, get some plasti-dip. it can be had in a spray can and if you need warranty work it peels off easily and leaves zero residue.
