Here is a picture of the board in the Z-5500 Control hub. Is it possible to tell which one is the 12v line and the ground? (see attachment)
Assuming ground is the black, but not sure on the 12v. Will explain why im doing this later.

A cheap voltmeter could be a fan laying around, the fastest speed would be the 12v line and black (gnd) Or just go 12v of the yellow from a 4pin molex assume this unit is plugged into.

It'd be hard to determine exactly what's on the different lines just based on those pics. Probably your best bet would be to open the sub and see if you can find direct traces from the power supply to the connector going to the control unit; then all you have to do is trace those pins from to the corresponding leads in the control unit.

Normally black is ground and red is hot but use a volt meter to make sure,hot doesnt always mean 12v,so beware.
