Default Possible to mod an external HDD enclosure for DVD drives?

I want an external DVD drive, but all the ones online are too expensive, and I wanted to get into modding as well (and have a reason to buy a dremel), so I want to make my first mod small and easy. I want to modify an external HDD enclosure to accomodate a DVD drive that I have laying around.

What I need to know before I go ahead and do it is if the mod is even possible. Would the DVD drive work? Any issues? Also, any advice for any problems I might encounter, such as how to support the DVD drive inside the enclosure, since I'm obviously going to have to remove some stuff to fit it inside.

Thanks guys. It's been a while since I posted here.

Is an external enclosure even big enough..?You would literally have to take the DVD drive to pieces..but go for it!

I plan on measuring the dvd drive and I was looking at a few on NewEgg that looked to be nice and bulky. Hopefully size won't be an issue.
