Ok so I have this router that I don't have a wall wart for. And I've noticed it needs 5V @ 2 amps and I was wondering could I use 2 wires soldered to the 5v lead on a molex connector to power it?
I know the 5v lead has 2 amps. But how would I ground it ect? The router is a Zyair G-4100-AWP. Thanks!

Buy a universal power adapter at Radio Shack or something, it will save you a lot of trouble.

Well I got that. I'm not sure though which is positive in the connector on the router and which is ground. Is it the piece that would touch the sleeve or the male part that would go inside the normal connector from the wall. I hope that made sense.

I think the inside of the plug in the middle would be the 5v and the sorrounding outside would be the ground insde the router where the adaptor would plug in. Sounds kinda risky.

oftentimes there is an icon beside the jack (or elsewhere on the device) to indicate the polarity of the power connector

if you're opening it to solder onto the solder pads inside the router, then you might be able to tell which is ground; usually the ground trace covers most of the bare area of the PCB.
