Default Molex to firewire?

I wanted to power a fan through usb, but I found out they put out a low amount of voltage. I heard that firewire puts out more power, so would I be able to splice it with a spare firewire cable?

Firewire puts out 12V, to be exact. While on the other hand, USB puts out 5V.

Sure can. Works fairly well. Just don't overload the header.
