Default LED replacement for Sunbeam Rheobus?

I'm sure many of you know how bright the LEDs are on this fan controller at night.. not sure why they decided to use such bright ones.

I want to get them replaced before moving in for school next week. There was a person on OCN who did it a year or so back but I can't seem to find the old thread. Maybe it was archived?

Anyway, the LEDs are 3 pins, where can I find some less bright ones? Keeping it with the color change might be good.

option 1, add resistors, you can grab those @ Radioshack,

option 2, go here: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ath=60_357_235
or grab them @ radio shack if they have any decent ones which the one near me never does

I pulled mine (the leds) out and never looked back. But, like gymenii said, if you have to have some bling go to radioshack.

I will check Radio Shack this afternoon.

How bright are the Performance PC ones? It says "ultra bright."
Also do I want 3mm or 5mm?

Most likely 5mm, but if you want to make sure you're getting the right stuff i'd order from Mouser.com or similar where you can actually view the specs of what you're getting.

For a very rough estimate of how big 3mm LEDs are, think like those little red coffee stirring straws. Might be a touch thicker than that, but close. 5mm LEDs I believe are a tad thinner than the common standard drinking straw.

If you can figure out which size straw your LEDs on that fan controller are closest to, you should be able to figure out what size you need. To be absolutely certain, you can also measure the LEDs from the centimeter/millimeter side of a ruler. The 3mm and 5mm is the diameter of the LEDs.
