Recently my router, a Linksys WRT310n had been acting up, so I've read that they have a tendency to run hot so I decided to cool it myself.
I present you my quick-fix mod. I used whatever materials I had laying around. My brother thought it would be funny to add some skewers to it, and label it phonetically. Enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Don't worry, this housing is only temporary.

Ha ha! Nice! I like the creativity and resourcefulness! Simple yet effective. I can't wait for the final housing for it. You could get a rectangular tupperware container and put 1-2 fans for intake/exhaust or vent/exhaust.

ya, you need an exhaust, I would replace that top one with a 120mm and 2 on the side with 80mm fans. Or you can just zip tie it to the top with a cut out of the box for protection since you have the iniards exposed.
Use that box, cut around the router with no outer walls, and zip tie (daisy chain the ties) around the router. that would be much more effecient.

There is a small exhaust, some dremel practice holes.
This is literally a couple days tops I didn't put too much thought into making this. But yeah I would have definitely put more fans on and probably used a psu at that point, instead of a rc battery charger.

Clever. I had that router for a little while, and it does run hot. I ended up ditching it for a new 54GS. Good going working with what you had!
