You could use both blacks too. Just don't short something out. If you use both blacks, it could be a little more confusing as to which you hooked up. You can use an individual switch for each wire, just make sure you flip both and don't leave one.
I find powerpoint convenient for drawing these things ![]()

Like he said. If you leave one circuit going, you are probably going to see problems with the hard drives in the future. If you only cut one wire, you will be leaving the hard drive with only 12v or only 5v.

It doesn't matter if you choose yellow/red or both blacks. You will need to cut the power lines to do this. Make sure you flip both switches to turn off/on the drives though.

The yellow + black next to it is one circuit (+12v). The red + black next to it is another circuit (+5v). To kill both circuits, you can kill either the positive side (red + yellow)... or kill the ground (red's black + yellow's black). Any DPST switch will do. They come in all types so chose one that you like. It doesn't matter.

The blacks are the grounds, but if you cut those, mo power can move anyway. What do you mean connections could be easily spotted? And those switches look to be the right ones.
