Hey guys!

I recently bought some new toys:

I then realised i didn't have a mouse mat! I couldn't be bothered to buy an expensive one, and i had a few free periods at school, so i decided to make one! From the off i wanted it to have blue LEDs and the razer logo on it.

Melamine Formaldehyde top with a blue acrylic middle.

Test-etching the razer logo. I abandoned this, since it was warping the 1mm acrylic

My new plan for diffusing the LEDs. 1mm acrylic + 800grit wet and dry paper =

Yeh i kinda lost some pictures...

Completed mouse mat! Well... i need to make an acrylic insert to go inside the razer logo. This will be made out of layers of acrylic laminate so i can build it up to exactly the right height. I will most likely 800grit these as well to diffuse the light even more.

Side shot. Layering goes as follows:

Melamine formaldhyde top
1mm 'frosted' acrylic layer
3mm blue acrylic layer
1mm black acrylic layer
Rubber feet inset into the black acrylic

The messy glue will be gone once i layer up the laminate inside the logo

Bottom needs a going over with some meths and a microfiber cloth. I got bored after spending half an hour cleaning the top off so i will do this tomorrow. It is the bottom anyway... who cares :P

Well its a bit dodgy on the drop to the cut out at the moment, but as soon as i get the laminate layers i can fill up the cut out with clear laminate and make it flat. Should be perfect then! If it still isn't, i will buy some frosted laminate and put it over the whole top to make it completely perfect.

I will get more pics! But won't be til monday, school is not open on the weekends :P And my scissor skills with laminate do not match that of a laser cutter!
