Default Custom Fabricated LGA775 Bracket

Well, last night I decided that I really wanted a backplate for my Vendetta 2 and didn't want to spend the money on buying a retention bracket. I found some old materials I had in the garage left over, so here goes the my first build log. I'm not professional, but let me know what you think.

I started off with this:

After cutting to a good length to work with and 2 peices, I began to drill a hole in the middle for a hex nut screw and a locking nut to hold them together.

I then cut off the excess material from both all 4 ends to make it the size of a regular bracket. I didn't take pics of this step, cause you can see I already had gone to the next stage, but image if you will that this was jagged and pointy as the other side it is adjacent to.

Then it was off to the Grinding wheel and buffer for smooth edges on the ends and a nice shine.

Then I got to thinking. I'm going to need something between the metal and motherboard for cushion and to deter the possibility of shorting out anything.

Cut it to length and super glued it on.

AND FINSIHED! Used a old stock 775 cooler to see if everything would line up correctly and now I have my very own custom fabricated LGA775 retention bracket.

Oh and this is what happens when you try to hold down two peices of metal and drill through them. The bit caught the metal and started to spin and I barely got my hand out in time. I was so excited about making this, I really didn't even feel the pain. =)

Apparently it sucks, since no one wanted to comment. Ah well. And no, its just some steel flat bars.

Thanks man. I just was proud of myself, guess I'd have to make a socket 1366 bracket to get some love these days lol.

Unfortunately I had to work a 12 hour shift today, so really had no time to pull my motherboard out. I had to reschedule my install of it to Sunday when I have the night time off. It has to be better than the push pins I have on the heatsink right now. I will update then and let you guys know.

Just a little update. Installed it today, and couldn't be happier. Lower temps across the board, and amazing temps after just 10 passes of IBT.
