Making it work correctly would take a hell of a lot of time.

Lol... No, that will not work. It is made for a.c. (sin waves), you are dealing with D.C.

You need something based on a voltage regulator and a few resistors (a D.C. fan controller for example), that is based on a triac <--exactly what you do not need.

May I ask why not just purchase a cheap fan controller? Newegg, Xoxide, etc....?

So....how exactly, assuming you had a hell of a lot of time, would you do this?

If you are having problems ordering a D.C. fan controller, for whatever reason, there are other possible alternatives.

I used one on some 110V AC 120x38mm fans I have, but on your regular 12V fan meant for pc's it won't work at all.

This makes no sense, Am I missing something?

ac is alternating current

TRIAC is for "triode for alternating current"

Im missing your point sorry.

What make no sense? Do you not understand how the triac works? a.c. vs D.C., where are you confused?

Nope kinda confused why you mentioned it? I mean TRIAC has what to do with his issue of "will this work"

If you had mention AC vs DC I would have understood, but TRIAC?

EDIT:Sorry not that I dont know what it is, just a little to indepth for saying yes or no
