Hey, I'm in xp and I have a .dmg file that I need to burn on a DVD-R DL. I have tried burning it with InfraRecorder and I keep getting an error. The only reason I can think of that this is happening is becuase my DVD/CD player does not support Dual Layer DVD's, but I have asked on this forum before if it can read in dual layer.

Will my HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GWA4164B drive read dual layer DVD's?

Can I get some suggestions of burning programs?

Will I need to format the DVD first?

Why would I be getting an error ( I don't know the error, Infra Recoder says to look at the log... the log doesn't have any errors on it).

Googling the drive it doesn't seem likely that it can read DL's.
I always use Nero, but that's just me.

Instead of burning it with a program, could I just plop my .dmg file into the E: drive (DVD) under My Computer?

First of all hit the Edit Button, second you should be able to drag and drop, but you'll then be using Microsoft's stock application to burn in to the disk.

Yo, Microsoft won't let me burn it, it says: Windows has encountered a problem when trying to move/copy this file."

Alright, I've found uot that my DVD/CD drive can burn on DL DVD's.

Ok just to clear a few things up, you know .dmg is a file for Mac OS right? Also - before trying the Microsoft stock app, where you got your error, what program (if any) were you using before?

I was using InfraRecorder. I have used it to burn .dmg's before.

Sorry, I just reread the OP, and I missed that.

Try this, and if it doesn't work, report back. Also, you don't need to format your disk, and I did a quick check on Google, your drive seems to be compatible. What company makes the disk you're trying to burn on to also?

I'm trying to use magic iso to convert the dmg to an iso (if that'l make a difference). I'll try CD burner XP after. Memorex makes the DVD-r DL.
