Already have a Jacobs drill chuck for it, the Z travel is severely inhibited though by the drill chuck + drill bit :\ Need an edge finder now, from either Littlemachineshop or MSC. Also need a nice set of calipers.

Cool, sounds like you got a pretty good handle on it. I wondered if you might have a problem with a drill chuck in your smaller mill.

Yeah, as log as I can clamp the piece directly onto the table I think I should be fine. Otherwise I may have to resort to directly chucking the bits in the collets, which isn't so bad as long as I have a standardized number of shanks for the bits.

Looks awesome.
And yes, an indicator will work for squaring up the head. That's how I always did it, but I had an arm attachment so I could swivel the indicator in a big circle to make sure it is square all around.
