Default How To: Get Winzip Full Edition Free legitimately!

Winzip is great, but the 45-day trial sucks, it usually ends when you most need it, and also, the countdown of days installed is annoying. But today, I got my Winzip 11 Standard Edtion completly free, follow these steps very carefully.

Read everything before doing anything!

First of all, let's start with the requirements, there is only one actually, have a Vista Debit/Credit Card (you won't get charged if you follow these steps)

-Go to http://www.trialpay.com/checkout/?c=...4a35f072102b43
-Enter your real name and real email adress
-Select the Rhapsody offer because it's the only one that offers a free trial
-Click "complete this offer", but before make sure that it's the correct email adress that is displayed
-Enter all the account information
-Enter the account information including your Credit Card information
-Once done, you will need to download "Rhapsody Online", you will be prompted on the Rhapsody website when you click Sign In, you must install it to sign in
-Now, all you have to do is wait for about 3 hours to receive an email from Winzip (it will most likely arrive in your junk email, beware) giving you an activation code
-You can now install Winzip, and when prompted if you want to activate, copy paste the code, and enter what ever name you wish
-You will now have to enter a couple extra information to register your copy

Now, ONCE you received the Winzip License Code by mail, you don't want this Rhapsody 14-day trial to expire and start charging you $14.99 monthly. Here are the last, and most complicated steps:

-Go to http://www.rhapsody.com/home.html and sign into your account
-Go to "My Account"
-From there, click "Account Information", you should see something that says "cancel subscription", I don't remember word for word what is says, and if it's in Account Information or in one of the other categories, but it's easy to find
-Now, by clicking "Cancel Subscription", Rhapsody isn't going to be nice and cancel your subscription, instead, it's going to give you a phone number to call, and that is the hardest part: convince the guy on the phone to cancel your subscription, the guy is going to ask for your email, name and reason why you are cancelling it, that's when you have to make up has much bull as you can to convince the guy. The guy is going to give you a number after, which serves no purpose except for you to keep in your records, I guess it's just like a ticket you receive for being on the phone with them. I thought that was some code to cancel my subscription, but it wasn't, IT'S USELESS but I kept it, just in case. Also, don't exagerate on the bull by saying you were member for 2 years because they look up your account and the guy told me that my account was created today and therefore why would I want to cancel it. You better sound convincing because the guy will do whatever he can to keep your subscription up and running
-If you succeed to convince the guy, you will receive a confirmation by mail that your subscription has been cancelled while you are still on the phone

If you succeeded in all these steps, now you can enjoy the full version, make sure you keep the Winzip email.

Congratulations, you've saved $29.99 legitimately!

You sure are making it sound like the rhapsody guy didn't want to let you cancel. I've signed up for a trial with them for a get-paid-to site, and I got them to cancel in minutes after telling them my computer didn't meet the system requirements for rhapsody. I think it needs xp, so say you have windows 98

Boris4ka, that is one great excuse! I found my own, a little more complicated but it worked. Imagine how mean they can be and tell you, can you please send a DXDIAG to *****@rhapsody.com
Better have an old PC around the house.

Just to be sure I'll say I have Windows NT 3.1 Wait, did NT 3.1 have internet lol?

Make sure you sandpaper the hole, and then put some U rubber over it to avoid sharp edges. Put some grease around the newly drilled hole, and then screw your computer, screw it hard. Maybe install some UV lights and turn em up to indicate that your computer is also excited.

Great instructions. But for people who don't want to go through that much effort, try 7-zip. It does basically the same thing, but more formats, and open source. Link

Hmm, I never paid for WinRAR, but I have full functionality. Nothing is disabled, but I still get the "After a 40 day trial period..." prompt. I've been using the same copy for a year and a half and it has never stopped working. Maybe I confused it by using the same copy on 3 builds.

I recently switched to Zip Genius

Seems to do everything I need including decompressing RAR files. And it's free.

good work, and xbox live is the same way. It took me five minutes of "are you sure you don't want to keep it as a practice account?" and "what about when friends come over?" for the guy to finally cancel the subscription. These companies love money huh?

Why does anyone use Winzip? As of XP zip functionality is part of the OS. Winrar for the win, rawr!
