IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE: The official domain name for VMark will be www.VMark-Live.com. The first thing linskingdom needs to do is to transfer the VMark from .net 2.0 to .net 3.5, then he will create the site to record and verify the benchmark results. Developer/Publisher of VMark: linskingdom Object: The purpose of this thread is to bring together all of the VMark Beta Testers in order for them to share their observations/results. Guidelines:
Beta Change Log: Beta 1.2.0:
Note: 1. No test will be added to the system benchmark task list. 2. I found a website that will host VMark database and web service. 3. I am working on the new web application that will allow VMark clients report issues and submit score automatically as well as share information and perform verification process. Beta 1.1.5: - Added the audio decompression and video encoding test. It is a separate test for now. I will add it into the system benchmark test after users test it. In order to run this test. Users need to install Microsoft Encoder 9. *.dll files and *.dat in the attachment need to present in the application directory. - Added the “Stop” button in the main screen. It stops the current benchmark test and releases all system resources. - Removed all temporary working files. - Speed up the process of test results in the benchmark result screen. - Allow users to display more than one result screens in the benchmark manager. Beta 1.1.2: - Ram will display in bank/slot with associate size. - The User screen will close once user clicks the save button. - Fixed benchmark percentage number in the benchmark manager screen. - Fixed the screenshot file format in the benchmark result screen and review benchmark screen. - Spelling mistakes fixed. Beta 1.1.1: - Added a feature in the result screen and review result screen to allow user take a screenshot programmatically. Beta 1.1.0: - Test data file size reduces to 4Mb instead of 20MB. The new data file is sysics.dat. The application doesn’t need the test3.dat any more. - Collect the service pack version of operating system if it is available. - Collect the physical size of hard drives. - Added the XML read, write and process to the task list. - Changed the Multithreaded test to File Write, Image Compression, File Encryption and File Compression. The new test takes advantage of multi-core processors. Depending on the processor, the processor’s usage will stay at 100% for up to 60 seconds and the core temp may move up to 25c. - Added user information screen to collect user information. - In test result screen, allow user to save the result/score along with current system information. - Add the benchmark manager screen. In this screen, user can review all results with associated system information. By right click, users are able to view test details and delete the result record. This lays out the groundwork of sharing test results between different users. Beta 1.0.3: - Spelling mistakes fixed. - Prompt user if one of data files was missed. Beta 1.0.2: - Minor Spelling mistakes fixed - Change the reference system from E2180 to E2140. - Combine the system information and benchmark scores in one screen. Beta 1.0.1: - First release. Overview of VMark: VMark benchmark tool VMark benchmark tool is a light footprint benchmark tool to evaluate your system's overall performance. Benchmark tests Vmark benchmark beta is still in first stage. We will add more tests such as 2D or 3D as the time and resources are permitted. The current beta version includes 10 tests. Task 1 -> File Read/Write Task 2 -> XML Read/Write/Process Task 3 -> File Compression/Decompression Task 4 -> File Encryption/Decryption Task 5 -> Image Compression/Decompression Task 6 -> Memory Write/Read 4K/192K/8MB/16MB ... Task 7 -> Audio Decompression/Video Encoding Task 8 -> Mathematics Calculation Task 9 -> Multithreaded Test 1 - File Write/Image Compression/File Encryption/File Compression Task 10 -> Multithreaded Test 2 - Media Decompression/Encoding/Mathematics Calculation Installation/un-installation We did’t create setup file for the beta version as we are trying not to affect your system's registration. As this tool becomes more mature, we will create setup files for VMark. For now, you will have to make a directory on your hard drive, copy files and then you will be ready to run tests. When you decide to remove them, just delete the files from the directory. 1. Make a directory on your local hard drive. 2. Unzip the zip file to that new directory. 3. Double click the VMark1.exe to run the test 4. When the latest beta is available, remove the old exe, save VMark1.exx to the directory and rename its extension name to exe. System requirement System requirement will be updated as more tests are available. Minimum requirements • Intel or AMD compatible processor 1.4GHz or higher. • 512MB RAM • Direct 8 compliant graphics card (2D/3D will be added in the near future) • 1GB hard drive space. • Windows XP 32bit or Vista 32bit (64bit will be available in the near future) • Microsoft .net framework 2.0. (download link) Recommended requirements • Intel or AMD compatible processor 1.4GHz or higher. • 1024MB RAM • Direct 8 compliant graphics card (2D/3D will be added in the near future) • 1.5GB hard drive space. • Windows XP 32bit or Vista 32bit (64bit will be available in the near future) • Microsoft .net framework 2.0. (download link) Beta testers We are looking for members to test VMark Beta. If you are interesting on testing, please PM me along with your email account that is able to hold the 2mb files. We greatly appreciate your help. Currently, we are looking for a website that can hold the web service and database so VMark can submit result, report issues and live update automatically.

System Information:
![]() Right hand box should read "Reference System" and not "Your System" Overall Tests: ![]() ![]() Both of these "Tests" had Firefox running in the background which, could account for the discrepancy in the results obtained.

Please post your screen shots in PNG format since the pic files get smaller and the text looks sharper than JPG ones.

I will added exception handler to see what it is. For now, it seems the test2.dat wasn't in the application directory.

Another noob question. What the max size of the attachment that I can do of a OCN post? I can put the files as an attachment so members can download it directly.
I got it. The max of the Zip file is 500MB. I will give a try later on.
