Can't argue with Chopes there. I use AVG Free, it's probably uses the least resources I've seen.

Another vote for Bitdefender here. Although Kaspersky is pretty good.
Just try a few trials and then decide which you like best.

I use Bitdefender all the time. HTTP scanning is great, particulary on certain dodgy sites. Common sense only goes so far, I rarely run into a Virus and am very cautious, but occasionally I am alerted to one that I didn't even know was there - sneakily downloading itself in the background.

MR TORCH
Avast for free anti-virus, NOD32 for paid anti-virus

Mr Torch Has hit the nail on the head,As mentioned for free go for the first ,And secondly if buying go for Esset Nod32 as that uses hardly any resorses.
IMO. Never use Norton as it interfiers with many of your installed apps,And if you use No Cd cracks ext it thinks there viruses .So go with mentioned above.
Edited:Kaspersky is exellent and Bitdefender also which is mentiond above,Proberly the best 3 retail and best freebe.
Im useing Kaspersky at moment as i got a 6month free download on a cd i got so wanted to try it out and up to now im pretty pleased with it Version 7 [2oo8] It uses this amount of memory in the back ground, 34,648k and 2 other apps at 7500k but detects everthing.

i am using avast now it uses very few resource, and does what an antivirus needs to do.
and also, not sure if they have changed, but the last time i uninstall norton products, it makes my system slow to a crawl, forcing me to reformat. so i think you should backup your system before making any changes.

Nix on BitDefender, it does have partially good protection, but it DOES slow your system down. You can find many people that agree with that, and on Anti-Virus comparisons...that is its problem, it's a kind of a hogger lol.

I will agree. It is sneaky, it loads up a SVChost while keeping BDAgent from using any memory. But it provides the best protection IMO. Plus I got it for $6, so I'm not complaining . It uses much less than ZA or Norton, and you only need to get 'BD Internet security', 'BD Total security' is overkill IMO.
