Default Outlook: Can't Create File?

So I started work this week. Yeah I know right, you'r all like "I have been working for 10 years (or whatever) and this ki dis just starting work?" Oh well the point is that I am a techy kid and when I came to this place it was like yeah sit there, type, take orders, and ****. SO i did, but when I had a problem with outlook I actualy got to fix it, and not just for me, for everyone on the network. This made me very happy. I mean I actualy got to fix something. Well when I was done with about half of them; my boss asked me to write a guide on how to fix it so I wasn't wasting my time on everyones computer. So I wrote this if you guys are interested.

Outlook Error Can’t Create File

Guide on how to fix it

By Veda Swank

When Outlook sends a document it saves a copy of it in a cache or temp folder. The temp folder is randomly named at the installation of Outlook and is different on every computer. When outlook has sent 100 of the same file in any email it views it as a malware, or malicious piece of software spamming other people with a virus. So they make it so you can’t send the file again until you delete the temporary folder’s content. This guide shows you how to do just that.

The first thing you will do is click the start button and go to run>regedit and press enter.

NOTE: This part of windows is where every registry key is saved; changing any one of these values could very well crash your computer or make any number of important programs not function properly. SO BE CAREFULL!!!!!

Because the folder name is randomly generated you need to find the folder by going in and finding the path. The path you want to navigate to is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\O utlook\Security. It should look something like this:

Once you have navigated to this point you are able to right click on the “OutlookSecureTempFolder” Value and select Edit Value. YOU DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE IT! All you want is the path (The path should be some variation after this path: C:\Documents and Settings\Your user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\...). So right click the highlighted path and click copy; then please close this window.

The next thing you will do is go into My Computer and in the address bar paste the path to the folder.

At the top left of this window should be a little folder Icon. Drag the icon onto the desktop; this drags a shortcut to the folder onto your desktop.

Once you have done that delete everything in the folder by click the first, or top most file, holding shift and then press end. This should highlight every file. Hold shift again and press delete. This will delete the Outlook temporary folder’s contents.

If you want to go so far as to not let it get bit enough to do this; you can make it so windows internet explorer doesn’t let the file get bigger than a certain file size. To do this you must first click the Start button. Then right click on Internet Explorer and click Internet Properties. Once you have done this click the Settings button under Browsing History section on the General Tab. This should bring up a little window and there should be a value box where it says—Disk space to use—Please input the lowest value which should be 8 into the little number box. This should set your whole internet temp folder to 8 megabytes and make it so outlook is unable to write more than a small amount of temp documents.

Note: There are a couple problems with this. The biggest one is when your browsing Internet Explorer saves all the cookies, pictures, and etc. in this file. If you drastically reduce the amount of space that the Temp folder will hold web pages you view often may navigate slower. This is because your computer has to re-download all the cookies, pictures, documents, etc.
