Throughout all this discussion, nobody mentioned that Opera is faster than Firefox and just as fast as Chrome. Honestly, I am not too impressed with Chrome. They copied all the good elements from the other browsers and made the URL bar in the wrong place. Also, the URL bar is huge. I guess the whole web platform thing is good, but it puts too much knowledge in Google's lap and trusts too much information to one company (like MS used to be).
In other news, IE8 Beta is not that bad and I wouldn't mind using it on a regular basis.

The omnibar > all.

Just use it like a search bar, I started typing 7zip and it listed the 7zip site and I haven't been there before on this computer.

omg chrome is so much faster than firefox!!!!

hello, reality check... how much faster is it than firefox?

Now how much faster after you strip out all plugins and disable update checking...

Now how much faster if you just add fasterfox?

seriously... FF with 49 addons installed... configured just how i like it... let's see how long it takes a cold start...

like omg***bbq!111oneoneone...

a whole 2.1 seconds from double clicking on the icon to homepage and this post fully loaded...

starting both ff and chrome at the same time... shows chrome loading a tiny bit faster... but ff loading pages MASSIVELY faster...

Much of what looks like rudeness is not intended to give offense. Rather, it's the product of the direct, cut-through-the-bull**** communications style that is natural to people who are more concerned about solving problems than making others feel warm and fuzzy. So you want to know more?
