depending on how the members of this forum steer this, no it's no against the ToS. But when the member start steering toward the "questionable" aspects of torrenting, it becomes against the ToS.

SO PLEASE KEEP IT ON TOPIC!

Torrents themselves are perfectly legal, but some of the material downloaded by way of torrents can be illegal.

Linux distros for example, are a perfectly legal use of torrents.

Talking about the idea of torrenting, programs to use, and how to configure them is not against the TOS as long as their is no discussion about downloading or uploading copyrighted content.

lease be advised that any discussion of piracy or use of software that isn't properly licensed is a violation of the TOS. We have decided to take this issue very seriously and want to make sure all of our members think about what they are about to post before submitting.

Some things that should not be discussed:

* Any software that disables copy protection and/or disc encryption
* Any discussion of software that invalidates Shareware/Trialware restrictions.
* Offering to PM a member a serial number or crack.
* Any un-authorized use of Corporate Software.
* Using BT or other P2P networks to obtain protected software.
* Downloading any copyrighted media without the Artist's permission.
* Suggesting the missuse of OEM software.

This is just a small example of things that should not be discussed. In the end it comes down to common sense. You wouldn't call MS and tell them that your friend gave you a burned copy of XP, so don't say it here either.
how to ...

for my torrents, i use utorrent. it's fast, light weight and it's very small. What you want is to look for files that are labeled as .torrent extension. when you are browsing sites for torrents, you want to look at the seeder and the leechers. if there are more seeders than leechers, you'll get a dl faster. ou also want to find files that are of good health. (you'll see this at various torrent sites) The more seeders you have (along with the less leechers,) the faster your DL will be.

When you DL the .torrent file, you just open it with utorrent (utorrent install will ask to associate with torrent files) and let the DL commence. It will also ask you something about "port forwarding" (which will be automatic if your router supports UPnP) which will allow incoming connections from people trying to DL the file you are. That's just a little description and how to, maybe others will be so kind to delve more in depth.

utorrent is the hands down winner for torrents.
