Hi Everyone,
in work we are using Outlook 2003 for our e-mail. A work friend of mine is having problems with her e-mail attaching and opening attachments. when she tries to attach the file it is asking her to check the permissions on the folder, i have checked this and she has full control. it is a network folder. any ideas? Thanks Anjokid

can she load the file normally? She may need to have the file on the local machine.

yes she can normally, but not able to attach which is a bit odd.
to be honest alot of our files are hosted on network drive and this has not been a issue before. hope thats a little more information. just a bit odd its happening to one person and not everyone else.

I'm assuming this is part of a domain.
have you checked active directory settings? How big is the file? Files that are too big cannot be attached. if you can't attach a file, and sending to someone on the same network, just e-mail them a link for now. Is her outlook online? may be it's set to work in off-line mode.

yes it is part of the domain,
i have checked the active directory and it is the same as mine and i can do it. the file is only small possible 100KB more or less... will check to see if she is working offline and post back... any other thoughts?

if the problem persists, then it is her PC issue, if it disappears then her account is the issue.

hmmm the error message seems to refer to permissions, did you double check her account settings?
can she make/save/place a file in that folder that she "does not have permission" to? may be there is like a "WRITELOCK" or "READLOCK" on that file like they have in linux?

she can create files and folders within the network folder but unfortunately still unable to attach.
how would i check the write lock? boot into linux? is there any other alternative as there hasn't been any real change in the network folder.
