Default Outlook 2002 is not remembering my password. Can you help?

Thank you for looking at my thread!

I recently installed Office XP into Windows 7 x64 build 7100, and there is only one issue that I have encountered:

When I open Outlook and perform a Send and Receive, Outlook asks me for my password. Once I enter it, I can perform Send and Receives all day without Outlook ever prompting me for my password. But as soon as I restart Outlook, it prompts me for my password again. But this is regardless of whether or not "Remember password" is checked, or if "Save this password in your password list" is checked.

Oh, and of course I have tried running Outlook in various compatibility modes just in case that was the cause, but it doesn't change anything.

So, here's what I'm seeing when I perform a Send and Receive for the first time during an Outlook session:

The above is in front of the following until I enter my password:

(I have indeed edited these screenshots for security purposes)

Again, once I enter my password and click OK - regardless if I enable "Save this password in your password list" -, it will be able to perform as many Send/Receives as I want until I restart Outlook. Once I restart it, I have to re-enter my password again.

I have already found the guide below, but it does not work. But it's not like I did it wrong; it was a very easy thing to do.

Stop Outlook/Outlook Express Asking For Your Password Every Time

So, I'm considering the possibility that this is just the way it has to be in Windows 7, however, I posted this just in case it helps me arrive at a solution to make Outlook remember the password.

Thank you again for looking!

Update: I haven't made any progress on this. This is a difficult one for me to solve.
