Default Freeware program that will properly rename music titles?

I have a pretty large collection of mp3 songs, but alot of them are not named correctly (artist, song name, etc...)

Is there a good freeware app, that will scan my collection and properly rename them so they are easier to organize?

I used this program before i switched over to all flac encodes instead of mp3.

Mp3tag
http://download.cnet.com/Mp3tag/3000...html?tag=mncol

Uses FreeDB to autotag and supports batch or single edits. Worked well. Hope you like it!

Its not going to automatically do it persay. You are going to have to add the directory through the file menu and then use freedb to search for the tags you are looking for. Then apply them. It automatically puts it into the right tag version.

If you are looking for just a program that will look up songs automatically and try to fill in the tags and are not worried about them being all exactly the same version then just use WMP and it will do it for you after you set it up to fix tags and filenames.

Let me know if this helps

That helps bud, thanks. How do I set this up in WMP and get it to do it to all my songs?

First you want to get into your options menu for media player. Then navigate to the Library Tab Shown Here.

Use the settings that i show in this image. It Will automatically search the online database for tag information for the songs you have in media player. Only downfall is some won't pull correctly and you might have to manually edit them, but when working with mp3 files there isn't a true way to pull the information from the internet to make it a perfect tag. The only way to do that is to rip your music and add all the information in before you rip it or get it from a private site that is very particular with filenames/size/tags/correct ripping, etc...

This is the filename options in the Rip Music tab in the WMP options. I recommend setting this before adding music to WMP so you have everything identical. If your like me, I would spend hours naming files the way i want them so its uniform. Just play around with these options before you add anything and you should be good.

One other note. Your tags might not all be the same version. This isn't going to change them to a specific version. That is the only downfall of just letting WMP doing it, where as that program that i told you about, you can set the tag version you want to use.
